Mental Health Is Real & You Matter
Share
Last night before I went to bed, I heard of the sad news of Miss USA winner Cheslie Kryst, passing due to suicide. Now I will say I am struggling with this because her Instagram page gives absolutley no indication that she had any type of depression or anxiety issues.
This leads me to my point.......as a person who has battled anxiety and depression for several years, oftentimes you can't see it. Some women are very good at masking their mental health issues and who knows this could have very well been her case.
The battle of the mind is nothing to play with and can be a very dark place. I hate to hear that she was not able to overcome whatever she was going through and my heart breaks for her family. This is why today I wanted to share a few things you can do if you are feeling down to the point you feel you have no more to give. Please know that you do!! You have so much life to live and the world needs you.
First Let's Do A Mental Health Check By Asking Yourself These Questions:
1. Am I getting enough sleep?
2. Am I eating a well balanced diet?
3. I getting enough exercise?
4. Have I connected with someone I love?
5. How am I really doing/feeling?
Now Lets Add In Some Affirmations To Help This Week:
1. I will be kind to my mind
2. Slow growth is still growth
3. I will get through this
4. I can do hard things
5. My feelings are valid
6. I am loved
7. I am perfect the way God made me
Last, We Will Add Some Tools To Help Keep Our Mentals Good This Week:
1. Limit your time on social media, remember most people show us the life they want us to see and not the life they are actually living.
2. Practice Gratitude. Break out your journal and write down things you are grateful for.
3. Clean, declutter or organize. If you are like me, it's hard to think clearly when my space is a mess or in chaos. Cleaning your space does wonders and makes you feel good!
4. Listen To Your favorite Music. It's true, music feeds the soul! Throw on your favorite artist and sing and dance along to your favorite songs.
5. Curl up to your favorite book. Reading is relaxing and can help you just zone out for a bit. Sip your favorite tea while doing it!
Bonus: Be kind to yourself, give yourself grace and replace the negative self-talk with positive self-talk.
I hope this list helps and that you have an AMAZING week!
Until next time, if nobody has told you they love you today....I Do and I mean it!
May Cheslie and her beautiful soul R.I.P
